Today’s society has found a need for people trained in managing diverse leisure opportunities. Graduates in this program may find initial employment responsibilities that involve the development of a wide range of programs and services related to fitness, culture, special events, developmental therapeutic activities, leisure education, counselling, and/or management of a recreation facility.
Choose from specializations in Therapeutic Recreation or Healthy Lifestyles. Complete over 450 hours of practical experience in a real-work setting. Develop leadership and communication skills as well as study social sciences. Excellent articulation agreement with Brock University and one in the works with Waterloo University. Graduates from this program in Recreation and Leisure Services may find employment with municipal recreation departments, arenas, pools, fitness centres, retirement homes, long-term care facilities, organizations serving the mentally and/or physically disabled, hospitals, boys and girls clubs, YM/YWCAs, correction agencies, social service related agencies, tourist attractions, and private and commercial agencies.
