Description:The Welding Engineering Technology program offers full- time, two years of hands-on education. The first year focuses on academic fundamentals and structural steel design and fabrication. During the second year you will learn pressure vessel design, construction and testing. You will design, build and test a pressure vessel as part of your final project. Practical welding skills are also developed to gain an in-depth understanding of welding processes.


Graduates may find work as welding specialist on engineering teams, researchers, supervisors, quality control and inspection officers and in technical sales. As a specialist on the engineering team, the technologist not only understands the welding processes used in metal fabrication, but is also trained in quality control, welding metallurgy, codes, fabrication techniques, inspections, drafting, weld design, management and supervision, computer skills, and project management.

Admission Requirements

Grade for Entrance Previous Year (%)*50 to 70
Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

  •  Grade11 Chemistry 
Completion of the following courses or equivalents:



At least 50% in Math 30-1 or Pure Math 30, or at least 70% in Math 30-2,


At least 50% in English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2,


At least 50% in Chemistry 20 or Science 30.



All applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency prior to admission, including students educated in Canada.
