| Description: |
Want to gain a thorough grasp of one of the world's most widely-spoken languages and its influences on modern thinking? You'll achieve skills in German grammar, speech, reading and writing. But moreover, studying German opens a window into a country's rich culture and heritage, its literature and thought. German writers made significant contributions to modern thinking (Luther, Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche, Freud, Heidegger) and German literature laid the groundwork for modern subjectivity and notions of freedom. German literature classes are generally offered in German above the 2000-level, almost like an immersion program. You'll also be encouraged to build your proficiency by studying abroad.
