Faculty of Arts and Science |
| Degree: |
Bachelor
|
| Field of Study: |
Political Science and Government, General
|
| Description: |
Politics exists wherever there is conflict. To endure, human associations need ways to resolve disagreements and antipathies. In this sense, politics exists almost everywhere: in families and workplaces, in neighbourhoods and schools, in city councils and provincial legislatures, at the global level and the local level, and all points in between.
Courses in the Politics Department are divided into five areas, or streams: Global Politics; Political Thought; Law, Public Administration, and Public Policy; Canadian and Comparative Politics; and City and Community Politics. A degree in Politics is excellent preparation for careers in such fields as journalism, law, teaching, public service, business, research, and community work. Many of our graduates have gone on to successful careers in all of these fields. Numerous others have pursued graduate studies in politics, opening doors to careers in academic life, the civil service, business, and advanced research.
