Anthropology is a broad field spanning four sub-fields: Physical Anthropology (the evolution of our species, modern physical variation), Archaeology (prehistoric peoples), Linguistic Anthropology (the study of language), and Cultural Anthropology (the description and analysis of past and present societies).
The Anthropology program at Brandon University encompases three of the discipline's four traditional major sub-fields: Socio-cultural Anthropology, Archaeology, and Physical Anthropology. It is possible to take introductory courses in the fourth sub-field, Linguistics, from the Department of Classical and Modern Languages. Students may choose between the three- and four-year major programs.
