Description: French is an official language of Canada, and of numerous other countries around the world. The French Studies program at Acadia offers a range of courses in French language, French culture, translation, as well as the literatures of France, Québec and Acadie, French-speaking Africa, and the Caribbean. Students who major in French achieve proficiency in the written and spoken language as well as an appreciation of the culture of the Francophone world. Students may spend their third year in a French-speaking university in Québec or abroad. Acadia participates in exchange study programs in Dijon and Nancy, France.

To complete the co-op option, students must complete three work terms of four-month duration for their program, alternating work and study terms; or complete a 12- to 16-month internship between their third and fourth year of study. Each work term is a non-credit course recognized on the student’s transcript of marks, with applicable tuition fees.
