Description: Human Ecology is an interdisciplinary applied field that uses a holistic ecosystems approach to help people solve problems and enhance human potential within their near environments – through clothing, family, home and community. Human Ecologists study and ­practice ­concepts of well-being in everyday life alongside global considerations, acknowledging the importance of interactions between humans and all types of environments.

The Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Combined Degrees program provides a five-year integrated program of 150 credits. Coursework within the two Faculties is taken concurrently. Students initially apply for admission to the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry, and Home Economics and are considered to be registered in that Faculty for the first three years of the program. All qualified Year 3 BSc in Human Ecology/Bachelor of Education students will be promoted to Year 4 in the Faculty of Education provided a minimum GPA of 2.0 has been achieved and a minimum of *90 applicable to the BSc in Human Ecology/BEd (Secondary) Degrees program has been successfully completed.

  • Grade 12 Humanities or Grade 12 Science
  • Grade 12 Humanities or Grade 12 Social Science or Grade 12 Science
  • Students already enrolled in a post secondary institution (university or college) may transfer into the Bachelor of Education Program if they have completed at least 24 units of course weight that transfer to a BEd Program. No more than 60 units of course weight transferable to a BEd. Program may be taken outside of the Faculty of Education.
