Linguistics programs offer a sound linguistics basis and a rigorous academic and scientific investigation of the phenomena of language in general, and of certain languages in particular.
This Honours program is designed to provide students with a thorough foundation for graduate studies. Areas of emphasis include standard subfields of the discipline: phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and typology. The interaction of theoretical courses, data-oriented courses and courses in historical and comparative linguistics (both Indo-European and non-Indo-European) forms a diverse and substantial foundation for the exceptional student who hopes to do graduate work in Comparative Indo-European, theoretical linguistics, or any other area related to linguistics.
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
