| Description: |
The English language is a powerful instrument in our global society, and learning how it works and how it may be used is an important part of the English program. Honing effective writing skills further permits students of English to communicate their thoughts and interpretations with that larger world. The study of critical writing teaches us how to organize our knowledge, express our thoughts and beliefs, and ask the questions we need answered.
The reading and writing skills that students of English will acquire can lead to many exciting career choices, including teaching at all levels, journalism, publishing, the arts, and a range of professional opportunities with both the private and public sectors on the international scene.
