Develop and refine your critical skills and cultural savvy, your oral and written communication, and your knowledge of past and present creative and critical inquiry. Courses in British, Canadian, American, and world literature in English, ranging from medieval sagas to contemporary fiction, are complemented by courses in linguistics, composition and rhetoric, editing, hypertext, and teaching English as a second language. Combining practical instruction with courses in a diverse range of topics - from women and literature to literary theory to literature by Native peoples - students develop career-specific skills in critical thinking, writing, publishing, computer applications, and teaching.
Graduates may find careers in teaching, publishing, writing and journalism, advertising and administration, public service, and business.
