Biochemistry is the heart of the life sciences, exploring life processes from a molecular point of view by studying the structure, properties, and biological activity of various classes of biomolecules.
Four-year program leads to an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (Biotechnology option available in French program). Formal lectures and lab sessions provide a hands-on approach to instrumentation. Many students become involved in research projects with their professors or with scientists at the Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre or the Northern Ontario School of Medicine program helps develop problem-solving and analytical skills, critical reasoning, computational, and communications skills provides a good balance of fundamental biochemical principles and practical techniques required in the life sciences.
