To be successful, all businesses require accurate accounting. Graduates of this program are able to do clerical accounting work and bookkeeping for small businesses. They will have the basic knowledge of Word and Excel (computerized spread sheeting) along with computerized accounting software Simply Accounting and ACCPAC. They will also be able to put together financial reports and documents.
This program will appeal to students with orderly work habits and the ability to follow business transactions from start to finish. They must be task oriented and able to work with minimum supervision. Good basic math skills are essential. Canadian content courses focus on Canadian laws, tax rates, and Canadian computer systems. The program is geared to the Canadian employment market and some credits can be applied to the Certification as a General Accountant of Ontario (CGA) program.
Applicants must hold an OSSD with the majority of courses at the College(C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level.
