Classics and Classical Lang., Lit., and Linguistics, Gen.
|
| Description: |
Unlock the secrets of Western civilization. Benefit not only from small classes, but also from resources such as a slide library containing over 40,000 images (one of the largest in the world), a departmental reading room, and an on-campus museum with artefacts from the classical Mediterranean world. The classics program gives you a broad educational foundation that can lead to a rewarding career in virtually any field. The classics program has mandatory courses in Greek and Latin, but students in the classical studies program, or from other programs, may choose some of these language classes as electives. If you opt for the Latin and English Studies program, you will examine the extensive influence exerted by Latin literature and classical culture on English literature. The program emphasizes the early periods of English literature, when classical influences weighed heavily on European culture.
