Description:
This two-year Ontario College Diploma program, accredited by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB) under the National Technology Benchmarks, prepares students for a career in construction document preparation in the construction and architectural fields. The curriculum focuses on working drawings, construction methods and materials, building science, computer assisted design, drafting and Building Information Modeling (BIM). With department approval, students may take part in a cooperative placement during the Summer months.
Upon completion of the Architectural Technician program, students may qualify for admission into level 05 of the Architectural Technology program and opt for a second co-op work term.
English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or equivalent). Mathematics, (Grade 12 MAP4C with a grade of 60% or higher) or (Grade 11 MCF3M with a grade of 50% or higher) or equivalent. Applicants who have been out of school for a period of time are encouraged to take a refresher course in mathematics and/or basic computer skills prior to the start of classes. Refresher/upgrading courses are available through Academic Upgrading courses, the Centre for Continuing and Online Learning and through local school boards.
