The General Studies program serves a variety of purposes. It is for those students who are unsure what academic/career path they want to pursue and thus would like to take a variety of liberal arts courses. It is also for those who wish to pick up a few courses towards a Grant MacEwan diploma or university degree, but at this point in time do not meet the admission requirements of the program they wish to get into. The General Studies program is not suitable for those students pursuing a B.Sc. or B.Comm. degree.
Students can complete one year of study (equivalent to 10 courses or 30 credits) and exit with a certificate in General Studies, or choose to complete two years of study (equivalent to 20 courses or 60 credits) and exit with a diploma.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or qualify for mature student status.
