Description: The curriculum consists of an integrated and focused concentration on biology and chemistry, with additional courses in neuroscience and human anatomy. Students in this specialization will gain a detailed understanding of the structure and functioning of the human body, how the brain and nervous system work, and what happens when the brain becomes damaged, disorganized, and degenerates.

Students who elect to study UOIT's Bachelor of Science and Management (Honours) in Biological Science take an additional year of study to develop business skills. The management program consists of the curriculum from the Biological Science, Life Sciences program and 10 courses in business and management. Graduates will benefit from a complete biological science education complemented by solid accounting, finance, operations, human resources and marketing skills.

A co-op option is available for the Life Sciences program, providing students with the opportunity to earn a competitive salary that will help pay for their university degree and provide work experience that will prepare them for a successful career or graduate studies. All of the Faculty of Science's co-op programs are accredited by the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education (CAFCE).

Admission Requirements
Grade for Entrance Previous Year (%)*: 70 to 100
Prerequisites: These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

  • Grade 12 English
  • Grade 12 Advanced Functions
  • 2 of: Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors or Grade 12 Physics or Grade 12 Chemistry or Grade 12 Biology
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or mature student status with a minimum overall average of 70 per cent on six 4U or 4M credits including English (ENG4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U) and two of Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Biology (SBI4U), Chemistry (SCH4U) or Physics (SPH4U), as well as a combined minimum average of 70 per cent in math and science courses. It is recommended that all four of MCV4U, SBI4U, SCH4U and SPH4U be taken. .
