Modern Languages - Combined Program

School: University of Windsor
Faculty: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
Degree: Bachelor ; Honours
Field of Study: Aboriginal and Foreign Languages and Literatures, General
Description: In this era of internationalization, it is important to think globally and act locally. The sequenced, skills-based language courses and detailed analyses of language and culture that form the core of the Modern Languages program prepare students to do both. This program offers concentrations in German, Italian, and Spanish. The university multi-media language/learning lab and the departmental mini-lab support the development of linguistic and cultural skills. It is possible for students to enter the program with no previous knowledge of the language of concentration; placement for those with previous knolwedge is provided. Courses in Arabic, Japanese, and Ojibwe are available as well.

Students in combined programs must complete the major requirements for both subject areas, and 01-150 and 01-151. They must also complete the Option requirements, in the order presented, followed by any additional requirements under Other requirements, to a total of forty courses. Example: If the total course requirements add up to 43 once the major requirements for the second subject area are included, then section (c) of the Option requirements and one course from section (b) of the Option requirements should be excluded from the degree requirements.1
