English Language and Literature - Conbined Program School: University of Windsor Faculty: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Degree: Bachelor ; Honours Field of Study: English Language and Literature, General Description: Develop and refine your critical skills and cultural savvy, your oral and written communication, and your knowledge of past and present creative and critical inquiry. Courses in British, Canadian, American, and world literature in English, ranging from medieval sagas to contemporary fiction, are complemented by courses in linguistics, composition and rhetoric, editing, hypertext, and teaching English as a second language. Combining practical instruction with courses in a diverse range of topics - from women and literature to literary theory to literature by Native peoples - students develop career-specific skills in critical thinking, writing, publishing, computer applications, and teaching. Graduates may find careers in teaching, publishing, writing and journalism, advertising and administration, public service, and business. Students in combined programs must complete the major requirements for both subject areas, and 01-150 and 01-151. They must also complete the Option requirements, in the order presented, followed by any additional requirements under Other requirements, to a total of forty courses. Example: If the total course requirements add up to 43 once the major requirements for the second subject area are included, then section (c) of the Option requirements and one course from section (b) of the Option requirements should be excluded from the degree requirements.
