Description: Students who complete the Bachelor’s Degree will be equipped as new leaders to build personal and interpersonal abilities through various theories and models of leadership as well as identify and strengthen qualities and skills for effective leadership. The ECCE degree program will prepare graduates to assume leadership roles as advocates, policy specialists, administrators, researchers and teacher educators. As new leaders, graduates will direct organizations, influence policy for young children and families and chart a course for others to follow by articulating and applying ethical principles and contributing to policy development that advances the quality and accessibility of services.

The degree program will offer students further opportunities to pursue their understandings of the changing global context of child care, education, families, and childhood. It will offer advanced perspectives on ECCE practice, encouraging graduates to continue to develop their abilities as outstanding educators and partners in children’s lives.

Admission Requirements

  • Grade 12 English
  • BC Secondary School Graduation (Grade 12) or equivalent or Mature Student status; Interview; 40 hours work experience (to be done as an employee or volunteer within the last two years in a licensed preschool or group care early childhood setting in B.C.); Letter outlining career goal; and a copy of any valid BC ECCE Licences (if applicable).
