The goal of the Department of Biology at Memorial University of Newfoundland is to engage in world-class teaching and research and through scholarship, to prepare students to meet the many challenges facing both natural and human environments. We do all this in a physical setting that is culturally unique, rich in history and of unsurpassed beauty.
Biology is the study of life and of living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution and distribution. Within the biology program a student can specialize in areas such as marine biology, microbiology, cell and molecular biology, ecology and many more. You can become a fisheries officer, wildlife officer, conservation officer, marine biologist, medical technologist, university laboratory instructor, science teacher, toxicologist, agriculturalist, aquaculture technician, horticulturist, medical doctor, or veterinarian.
