Description: The newly created Major in Natural Resources, Energy and the Environment (NREE) is a truly unique major that provides students in the BCom program the opportunity to develop specific and focused knowledge of resource, energy and environmental issues and industries in their studies. The program builds on the core strength of the BCom program and leverages the significant expertise within the faculty and linkages that the School of Business has in the business, government and NGO sectors of the economy.

This major, the only one of its kind in North America, builds on the Province of Alberta’s economic and geographic strengths, the resource base of Alberta, Canada and North America, and the teaching and research excellence of the School of Business as well as the worldwide reputation of the University of Alberta in many fields associated with natural resources, energy and the environment.

Admission Requirements
Prerequisites:

There is no direct entry from high school into the Bachelor of Commerce program (BCom). Students must first complete a year of university in either the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Science and take courses in English, economics, mathematics and statistics. Admission to the BCom is competitive based on performance in the required courses and a student's overall academic record.
