| Description: |
Sociology aims to understand patterns of human social life in all their historical and current diversity. Sociologists seek to understand how people live, think, feel, and believe, comparing our own society with others.
Memorial's Department of Sociology is the largest in Atlantic Canada and has research strengths in the sociology of work, occupational health, immigration, culture and communications, theory, gender studies, political sociology, social and economic development, the environment, deviance, and criminology. Much of the research conducted by our faculty engages with communities and social issues here in Newfoundland and Labrador.
