St. Margaret's School is the oldest continuous private day and boarding school on Vancouver Island. We offer classes for girls only from our Early Childhood Education preschool program to Grade 12, as well as our certified English as a Second Language program (ESL program).
St. Margaret's School offers specialist teachers, Advanced Placement (AP) courses and small class sizes in a safe and comfortable setting, located on 22 acres of park-like setting in Victoria, British Columbia on the scenic west coast of Canada. Our focus is on academic achievement, mathematics, science and technology as well as supporting the well rounded student through athletics, fine arts and community service.
Areas of Expertise
St. Margaret's offers a strong ESL program for students who wish to improve their skills in English. Both international (visa) students and those who have recently immigrated to Canada are considered for the School's ESL program. St. Margaret's also offers small class sizes, which allows for higher levels of interaction and great individual attention.

Requirements for Canadian Students

Applicants will be assessed on the following criteria, depending on the grade:
- A parent interview with the Head of School or the Junior School Coordinator.
- A reference form completed by the Principal or Homeroom Teacher at the applicant's present school.
- A student interview/test with a Teacher and time spent in classroom.
- Copies of the student's most recent school report and her final report from the previous academic year.
- Testing in English and Math.
Requirements for International Students
Applicants must submit a completed application form, a $200.00 registration fee, proof of citizenship, and other attachments described below.
Applicants will be assessed on the following:
- A reference form completed by the Principal, Teacher, or Counsellor at the applicant's present school.
- Copies of the student's most recent school report and her final report from the previous academic year.
Procedure for Canadian Students
Students wishing to apply to St. Margaret's School may do so at any time during the year. Generally, however, students may only start school at St. Margaret's in September and it is recommended that they make an initial application to the School at least six to 12 months in advance. Applicants must submit a completed application form, a $200.00 application fee (not refundable), proof of citizenship, and other attachments as described above.
Procedure for International Students
International students are required to obtain a student visa from their nearest Canadian Consulate or Embassy. This process in itself can take many months. Students must be accepted at St. Margaret's School before they can apply for their student visa. Applicants must submit a completed application form, a CDN $200.00 application fee (not refundable), proof of citizenship, and other attachments as described above.

The School year runs from September to June with breaks at Christmas (December) and in March. Many international students choose to participate in the School's student group trip during the March break, which usually includes visits to a number of European nations. |
