About the Speaker

Matthew Mittelsteadt

Matthew Mittelsteadt is a senior research fellow and director of the AI and Progress Project whose work focuses on AI diffusion, innovation, and cybersecurity. Before joining the Mercatus Center, he was a fellow at the Institute of Security, Policy, and Law where wrote on AI judicial policy and arms control. His work has been cited in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Bloomberg, and Foreign Policy. He holds a BA in economics from St. Olaf College, an MPA from Syracuse University, and an MS in Cybersecurity from New York University.
