Being awarded a scholarship is prestigious and deeply satisfying. It is also extremely helpful for budgeting for your tuition costs. These days most institutions offer a variety of scholarships and awards - both automatic (no separate application is required; typically based on the academic average) and non-automatic (application for consideration is required).

At Carleton University we offer an unlimited number of entrance scholarships that are automatically awarded to all high school students who meet our academic and language requirements. The entrance scholarship amounts range from $4000 to $16,000, awarded across the 4 years of study. See Awards for International Students for more information.

In addition to our entrance awards, Carleton also provides students with the opportunity to apply and compete for one of our 24 Prestige scholarships. These awards range from $20,000 to full tuition. To be considered for a Prestige Scholarship, you must be entering Carleton for the first time and have no previous attendance at post-secondary institutions. You’ll need an admission average of 90 percent or better and the selection committee will assess your community or secondary school activities. The application must be submitted by March 1.

If you do receive a scholarship you are encouraged to review the conditions of the award to determine if the scholarship is renewable, what average is required to renew it and any other important conditions. Other forms of financial support at Carleton University include bursaries for continuing students as well as employment opportunities both on- and off campus (including Co-op terms).
