Moving to a new country can be a big change. Luckily, each university has different resources across campus to help you make Canada feel like home!

One of the scariest parts about moving to a new country is not knowing where to go when you need help with any legal questions. The University of Waterloo has a team full of amazing immigration consultants who are more than happy to help you. There’s also an International Student Guide that covers all aspects of arriving in Canada. Make sure to watch this year’s Countdown to Campus videos and make sure you are ready for your first year here in the Canada!

Building a community where you feel safe is an important part of any move, especially when you’re moving far from home. Waterloo offers an International Peer Community, where international and Canadian students meet in groups to support and learn from each other. It’s an amazing way to meet new people and build your own family here in Canada.

The University of Waterloo also offers an entire International Student Orientation specifically for all their international students! Each day is geared towards helping students adjust and be successful during this new chapter in their lives. And the support doesn’t end after Orientation week is over! If you’re staying in the country during the holiday season, sign up for Waterloo’s winter care package known as UWinterloo to receive a few gifts just for you.

There are so many ways to make Canada feel like home. We hope you’ll take advantage of some of these resources to help you make the most of your Canadian university experience!
