$2,000 | Deadline: March 23
This award is for nurses practicing in Newfoundland and Labrador looking to pursue doctoral studies in nursing.
To qualify, you must be a member of the NL Registered Nurses' Education & Research Trust and be committed to making significant contributions to your field.

Over $50,000 in awards | Deadline: February 13
The Canadian Nurses Foundation offers more than 70 scholarships to students at every education level, from bachelor degrees to doctorates. You're sure to find an award or two provided by the CNF.
Some awards, like the Tecla Lin & Nelia Laroza Memorial Award and Brenda Jeam IEN Nursing Award, are even open to nurses trained internationally!

$9,000 | Deadline: April 30
If you agree to live and work in northern Alberta upon graduation, this award is totally non-repayable! You'll have to be an Alberta resident for at least 12 months before starting your program, though.
To get a grant of $18,000 instead of $9,000, you can make a commitment to live and work in a specific region or community in northern Alberta that could use the help of a trained nurse like you!

If you're a resident of Canada's frozen north studying a health-related field like nursing, you should check out this award. To apply, you must be taking or entering a degree or diploma program in healthcare.
You'll also have to write a short essay touching on the following topics:
- How you have demonstrated the academic ability to be successful in their chosen field
- How providing the scholarship to you will benefit the north
- Your past and current involvement and contributions to your community

If you're a resident of the Northwest Territories, and have been for at least two years, you could qualify for this scholarship, intended to support NWT residents amibitions in nursing and social work.
To apply, you'll need to share a short essay on why you're seeking support, as well as describe your community involvement, development, your commitment to nursing, and your financial need.

$2,500 | Deadline: May 15
This award is for residents of the Northwest Territories who are entering the second (or later) year of post-secondary studies in medicine or nursing in Canada. You should plan to practice in NWT after graduation! Preference will be given to those from Yellowknife, and those studying pediatrics or neo-natal care.
To apply, you'll need to submit a short essay detailing why you're applying, the personal qualities an applicant should have, and how the award will contribute to achieving your goals.

The De Beers Group has partnered with the UN Women HeForShe Thematic Champion Initiative to provide four Canadian women (or permanent residents!) entering their first year of an undergraduate STEM program.
A preference will be given to women from remote communities in Northern Ontario, Southern Alberta, Northwest Territoties, and Nunavut, and for women of Indigenous descent.

Open to women between the ages of 16 and 28, this award honours Dr. Helen McKilligin, a pioneer in the field of neonatal nursing.
To apply, you'll need to answer a couple of short essay questions:
- An example of a time you didn't reach a goal you set for yourself, and what lessons were learned
- An example of a time you achieved something by not following the rules: you were a "rebel with a cause"
You'll also provide another essay about your program and how you'll make an impact on your community and world.

If you're a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who lives (or has lived!) in Yukon, studying a nursing program, you could qualify for this award.
You'll need to submit a short essay detailing your study intentions, your interest in health services, and your commitment to work in Yukon after you've completed your education.

If you're a resident of rural Manitoba, you're in financial need, and you've already begun your post-secondary career by completing at least one year of studies, you could qualify for this award.
The award honours Jeanne Henuset-Fraser, who had to quit school at 12 to look after her family. Jeanne hopes this bursary will help others fulfill their dreams.

This award is for students currently studying in British Columbia and Alberta at any level from diploma through to your MD.
Copeman Healthcare Centre focuses on disease prevention, but students studying any aspect of the healthcare field are eligible to apply.

Sunshine Coast Health Centre is a leader in addiction treatment. If you're a student in undergraduate or graduate studies in addiction, mental health, or nursing, you might qualify for this award.
To apply, write a 500-1,000 word essay on the following topic: "What is your perspective on personal meaning and how it helps people in treatment and recovery for their addiction?"
Sunshine Coast Health Centre also offers co-op opportunities for students in British Columbia.
