Find Out if You're Eligible to Study in Canada with this 15-Minute Questionnaire

Canadian colleges and universities are some of the best in the world. If you're thinking about studying in Canada, you're not alone!

Still, coming to Canada isn't easy, and eligibility requirements change often — especially due to the ongoing pandemic.

Immigration eligibility

That's why the government of Canada has developed an online eligibility questionnaire that helps you figure out what you need to come to Canada. The questionnaire is just to help you orient yourself for an application: no immigration decisions are made based on your answers. The questionnaire is just to help you understand your options.

You'll be asked a few simple questions about yourself and your family, including age, citizenship, income, and so on. If you're eligible to apply to come to Canada, you'll get instructions on your next steps!

Study permits

If you're not interested in immigration, and just want to know if you need a study permit, there's a questionnaire for this, too! It can help you determine if you need to receive a study permit, or extend one you already have.

The study permit questionnaire takes only 5 minutes to complete, and when you're done, it offers instructions on what to do next.

If you're planning on studying in Canada for the fall 2021 semester, be sure to get your study permit application submitted by May 15! Submitting by May 15 means you'll get a decision by August 6, in time for the semester's start.

If you submit after May 15, your application will be processed as soon as possible. Application processing times vary by country, though some students in China, India, Morocco, Pakistan, the Philippines, Senegal, and Vietnam may be eligible for the Student Direct Stream.

Travel to Canada

Please bear in mind that with many pandemic restrictions still in place, traveling to Canada is more difficult than usual. You can use this questionnaire to find out if you can enter Canada. If you're eligible, be sure to check out the flying to Canada checklist, which includes details on quarantine procedures for COVID-19.
