Canada is huge, and with all of the amazing adventures you can have, it can be difficult to know what journeys are worth taking. With 13 different provinces and territories to visit, how do you know what to see? Read on to discover the best attractions!

1. Alberta

Lake Louise

This lake feels as if it transports you to the Swiss alps. Its bright turquoise colour surrounded by green forests and the Rocky Mountains located in Banff National Park is picturesque both in the summer and winter. Swim, kayak, and paddleboard during the summer. Skate over the clear, frozen water in the winter. This lake is one of the most beautiful, natural locations you can visit.

2. British Columbia

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

British Columbia is known for its breathtaking forest and mountain scenery. The best way to experience all of it while taking a walk on the wild side is with this park’s help. The main attraction of the park is its suspension bridge that is strung between treetops and hangs over the Capilano River which makes the perfect photo opportunity. The Park also offers more adventures such as a “Cliffwalk,” a narrow trail suspended high up from the cliffside, as well as treetop trails where you walk on suspension bridges between trees in the west coast rainforest. This is a great adventure for thrill-seekers.

3. Manitoba

Kayaking and AquaGliding with Beluga Whales

The best and safest way to get up close and personal with Beluga Whales is through a kayaking and AquaGliding expedition. AquaGliding places you on a floating mat in the water, wearing a wet suit with snorkeling gear so the curious and friendly Beluga Whales will approach you. If you don’t want to be that close, kayaking is a good option where you can explore the scenic waters and make friends with the Belugas as they trail behind you.

4. New Brunswick

Ganong Chocolate Factory

If you have a sweet tooth, this place is for you! Located in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Ganong Chocolate is Canada’s original and longest-standing family-owned and operated chocolate company. This company paved the way for sweets in Canada by being the first to make lollipops, heart-shaped boxes, and imprint the bottom of their chocolates.

5. Newfoundland and Labrador

Become an honorary Newfoundlander at a Screech-In

Newfoundland and Labrador have so many incredible sights and activities to do, but the absolute best activity you can do is participate in the legendary Screech-In Ceremony. This is a ceremony where locals will welcome you to the community as an honorary Newfoundlander. You will be expected to recite some words, eat “Newfoundland steak” which is fried bologna, kiss a fish on the mouth, and take a shot of Newfoundland Screech Rum. You can participate in Screech-In Ceremonies anywhere in Newfoundland, but the most popular place is Christian’s Pub on George Street where you’ll receive a certificate for your new status.

6. Nova Scotia

Tidal Bore Rafting and Mudsliding tours

Seeking a mix between thrill and scenery? This adventure takes you rafting on rapids and sliding down steep mud slopes of the riverbed while you witness an incredible natural event. A tidal bore is a large wave caused by the funneling of a flood tide as it enters the Shubenacadie River, a long, narrow, shallow inlet. This initial wave can be inches or feet in size, but the waves that follow it are massive and will have you struggling to stay in your seat as you bounce around.

7. Ontario

Tobermory

Tobermory is a small, lakeside town on top of the Bruce Peninsula. This area is full of exciting adventures from long, cliffside trails, crystal clear waters, the infamous Grotto and its caves, diving and snorkeling, and boat tours. With gorgeous scenery and lots of activities, this is a great place to visit!

8. Prince Edward Island

Anne of Green Gables

Montgomery’s role as an author of national historical significance, and you can even walk the Haunted Woods and Balsam Hollow trails as it’s described in the book!

9. Québec

Carnaval de Québec

10 Saskatchewan

Tunnels of Moose Jaw

These underground tunnels have two stories to them: the early Chinese immigration to Canada, and the 1920s Prohibition. These tours create fictional stories to present historical information about the tunnels’ uses. Get a deep look into history by going deep underground.

11. Northwest Territories

Northern Lights

Aurora Village is the best place in the world to see the Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis. This experience shows dramatic colours of blues, greens, purples, and more in the night sky. It’s one of the most beautiful phenomena you can witness.

12. Nunavut

Mount Thor

Mount Thor, located in Auyuittuq National Park, is the world’s greatest vertical drop at 1,250 metres and an average angle of 105 degrees! Very few have been able to climb this entire mountain, so if you’re up for a challenge, try this out! If you aren’t much of a climber, you can also hike, ski, and snowmobile in this national park.

13. Yukon

Klondike gold mining

Gold jewellery, watches, and souvenirs are cool, but what’s better than finding your own piece of gold? Thanks to the Klondike Visitor’s Association’s Free Claim No. 6, you can find a spot on the river and pan for gold yourself! The best part is you can keep any gold you find for free! If you don’t have any tools of your own, don’t worry. You can buy and rent them in Dawson City. Go feel the thrill of discovering gold!
