At Wilfrid Laurier University, we want to make sure you have an exceptional student experience so you can do your best academically, and get involved on campus, meet new people and make the most of your years at university.

Academic Supports

Laurier has a variety of supports and services to help you succeed academically. Academic advisors can help you with your academic requirements, so you take the courses you need to progress through your degree. Study skills and course support programs can help you improve your note-taking skills, develop strong test and exam review strategies, and improve your critical reading. The Writing Services team can help you with your academic writing, and the Mathematics and Statistics Learning Support team provides academic support services focused on university-level math.

Did you know: You can build your English-language proficiency before you begin your undergraduate program by studying in the Laurier English and Academic Foundation (LEAF) program.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Take your student experience beyond the classroom by getting involved at Laurier. There are over 250 student-led clubs and associations at Laurier with 5,000 members. You can join a club based on your program, your interests or even if you’re looking for a new hobby. You’ll also meet other students who share your interests and build new friendships. You can also get involved in Laurier’s award-winning intramurals program and stay active by accessing state-of-the-art fitness facilities.

Get to Know Laurier International

As an international student, we know you have unique support needs and the team at Laurier International can help you. Through the International Student Support office, you can get assistance with study permits, work permits and visas, connect with your International Student Leaders, and be supported in your transition to life in Canada. Laurier International also hosts social programming and cultural events throughout the academic year where you can meet other international students, share your experiences, and take part in cultural celebrations.

Begin Building Your Career

To help you succeed in your career after graduation, you can access support through the Career Centre. You can get help with your resumé and cover letter, begin planning your career, attend career-focused workshops and get support with your job search. The Career Centre can also help you find part-time work during your studies, including through the International Student Work Experience Program. Laurier also has a career consultant who specializes in supporting international students so you can get customized guidance and advice.

Did you know: Laurier students are invited to the Partners 4 Employment career fair every year, which is the largest career fair of its kind in Canada!
