Canada is well known for its gorgeous and expansive wilderness and there is no better place to explore and enjoy it than on Nipissing’s campus in North Bay, Ontario.

When you hear a city name like North Bay, you might be picturing the winter and snow. And if that’s what you are looking for, we’ve got it! You can ski and snowboard at Laurentian Ski Hill. Snowshoe on our groomed campus trails between classes, or build a snowman with your new roommates (or maybe even have a snowball fight.) Lake Nipissing freezes solid in the winter and you can try ice fishing or literally walking off into the sunset across the ice.

During the warmer months of the year you can enjoy catching some rays or swimming at the beach. You can hike and bike on the 20km of hiking trails right in your very own backyard on campus, and even catch a concert at the annual Summer in the Park Festival. There is a weekly outdoor farmers market where you can grab some fresh local groceries and then head for a stroll along the waterfront walking trails.

But not to worry if exploring the outdoors isn’t your thing! Nipissing has a vibrant campus community with tons of clubs and on campus events. Catch a varsity sports game at the RJ Surtees Athletic Centre, attend a guest lecture from a visiting expert or grab a bite to eat from one of the many amazing local restaurants in town. (Twiggs is a must visit!)

North Bay offers a small town feel with big city opportunities. It’s a place where if you drop $20 on the street someone will pick it up and return it. With 2 malls, a bustling downtown, and vibrant music and arts scene, there is something for everyone to enjoy both on campus within the community.
