Dreaming of studying in Canada? Paying for it doesn’t have to be a nightmare!

Earning a university degree is a huge accomplishment and will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. However, it doesn’t come without a financial investment. The good news is that there are many financial aid opportunities that can alleviate some stress and help you reach your academic goals.

One of the easiest funding opportunities is through entrance scholarships. At Nipissing, all students entering their first year of a program will automatically be considered for entrance scholarships - there’s no need to apply! Scholarship values depend on grades used for admission and range in value. You might even be eligible for free tuition your first year! Full-time international students in their second year or higher are also automatically considered for the Carl Sanders Scholarship.

Bursaries and awards are also a great source of funding as they focus on aspects such as financial need or extra-curricular involvement as opposed to academic marks. There is a diverse list of bursaries and awards that you can apply for depending on your unique circumstances. Make sure you keep track of deadlines; entrance award applications are due May 1st while all other award applications are due November 1st.

Furthermore, the International Work-Study program provides part-time, on-campus employment opportunities for International students who are in financial need. On-campus jobs are ideal for International students because they are capped at ten hours a week and offer flexible schedules so that you can focus on your studies while also earning additional income. Many different employment opportunities are available, allowing students to learn valuable skills while becoming more immersed in the Nipissing community.
