From good to great: The best 4ways to top up your education

Save

Everyone knows that professors, lectures, labs and studying are important parts of your education, but what really makes your university years unforgettable? These are the top four ways Lakehead students make their university experience one-of-a-kind.

  1. 1. Take advantage of the activities our International office offers

  2. Lakehead University International plans many events throughout the school year just for you. Get to know students from Canada and around the world while becoming acquainted with the regions where you’re studying: learn about Canadian history through excursions to historical parks; let our varsity hockey team teach you how to ice skate; or attend a Powwow organized by Indigenous communities in our hometowns.

  3. 2. Join a student club, or start your own

  4. At Lakehead, you can join one of over 50 clubs and associations to broaden the way you experience university. Some student clubs include the African Caribbean Student Association, the Badminton Club, the Indian Students’ Association, Engineering Student Society, and many more. If you don’t find the club you’re looking for, you can start your own with the help of our student union! Check out all of Lakehead’s clubs.

  5. 3. Get moving

  6. Balance all the hard work you do for classes by staying active. Athletics and recreation is an integral part of your university experience. Participate in (or cheer on) a varsity team like hockey, golf or basketball. Or join campus recreation and their intramural teams and classes, including yoga, ultimate frisbee, and cricket. Explore Athletics at Lakehead.

  7. 4. Become a leader

  8. One of the advantages of a smaller university experience is that you can play a bigger role in making it what you want. Lakehead offers you guidance along the way to help develop your leadership skills. You can also document your non-credit activities through your Co-Curricular Record (CCR), and then use this in future job applications. Explore Lakehead’s leadership development opportunities.
