Study Academic English and Open Doors to Education and Career Opportunities!
Having a strong command of English is important for success at school and beyond.
Are you interested in improving your English language skills for university study or employment? An English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course can help you achieve your goal.
What can students expect from an EAP course?
EAP courses are typically designed to address the academic language skills non-Anglophone students need to achieve the required English language proficiency level toward studying full time in an undergraduate/graduate degree program. The rigorous academic instruction in major components of language (oral, aural, speaking, reading and writing) that forms the basis of EAP courses prepares students to communicate effectively, efficiently, and spontaneously at a level appropriate to both post-secondary study and the workforce.
Is it possible to study academic English online?
Absolutely! Course content and delivery methods may differ by institution, but students should expect to focus on: writing, reading, listening comprehension, problem solving, researching, presenting, note taking, and thinking critically.
Studying academic English online may not be something you had considered prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are a few reasons why we at the University of New Brunswick English Language Programme think you may wish to give online learning a try and make 2021 the year you invest in yourself:
