Description:The Master of Science (MSc) in Electrical and Computer Engineering program incorporates coursework and a research project which is supervised by a member of the department. Many students find that the additional qualification boosts their career trajectory, while for others it is a pathway to further research and the PhD degree. The Master of Engineering (MEng) is a terminal degree that combines coursework and an engineering project and does not provide access to a PhD program.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    MEng students must complete a minimum of 24 credit hours of coursework, including a minimum of 9 credit hours at or above the 7000 level from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and an advisor-approved engineering project and proposal. The effort involved in this project should be at least the equivalent of 6 credit hours of coursework.
    Test Scores:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 80]
    Additional Admission Requirements:
      Qualification for admission to the electrical and computer engineering graduate program is contingent on first receiving tentative acceptance from an academic advisor who will accept you into their research group.




      In addition to the admission requirements described here, all applicants must meet the minimum admission and English language proficiency requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
