Description:Our research-intensive department focuses on five areas of research: astrophysics, biological physics, condensed matter physics, optics, and quantum computing, with faculty members specializing in theoretical, experimental and computational tools.

Over the last decade, the department has grown to become a major powerhouse of research, housing 42 faculty members and approximately 230 graduate students, attracting the top research funding per faculty at the University.
