|Field of Study:||Early Childhood Education and Teaching
|Description:||Apprentices will study and gain meaningful experiences in early childhood programs, learning to foster the development of the whole child, and recognize individual needs. Experiences will include opportunities to observe children at our on-site Family Resource Program or other agency partners, field placements with a wide variety of age groups at the apprentice’s place of employment, as well as other organizations. The theory content and 'in-school' portion can be taken in the evenings (three hours/two nights weekly) or day release (six hours a day).
The ECE apprenticeship certificate from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities is awarded upon successful completion of 4,000 to 6,000 'on-the-job' hours and 'in-school' ECE subjects/courses. In addition to the ECE apprenticeship certificate, the apprentice may work towards an ECE diploma upon successful completion of a College English and a specified number of general education courses.
