The Communication Studies Diploma is a two-year, 60-credit program that provides a foundation for students who are aiming at careers in: journalism, public, community and government affairs, media relations, radio or television, audio visual programming, media administration and research, publishing, policy analysis, communications project development, writing and editing.

    Applicants are required to have high school graduation. Applicants are also required to have English Studies 12 (C+), English 12 (C+) or English 12 First Peoples (C+) or equivalent. For students with previous post-secondary experience, a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a scale of 4.33) or equivalent.

    ENGL 100 is a required course in the Bachelor of Communication Studies. In order to enroll in any English course, students must submit the results of the English Diagnostic Test (EDT) or the Language Proficiency Index Test (LPI) unless they meet the EDT/LPI exemptions.

    Current Grade 12 students can be conditionally accepted based on final Grade 11 grades or interim Grade 12 grades. Students can upload proof of grades (e.g. unofficial transcripts, copies of report cards) through EducationPlannerBC when applying to Capilano University. Final acceptance will be based on high school graduation and having met the program specific requirements.
