Program Information

School:Cégep John Abbott College
Faculty:Career Programs
Degree:Diploma
Field of Study:Acting
Description:Actors need a multiplicity of skills; vocal, improvisational, how to move on stage, how to project, how to dance, how to sing, study the script, interpret the text, stage combat, how to wear a period costume or mask, find a light and arrive on cue. Actors study plays, characters, skills, audition techniques, career management, camera work and, most of all, how these elements come together under the guidance of a director in the interpretation of acting roles for our fully staged public performances.

Our program teaches students the essential skills required to work in today’s theatre industry as well as associated careers in television, cinema, video and mixed media. Actors learn their craft in the intimacy of our studio spaces and public performances in our beautiful, state of the art, Casgrain Theatre.
