Description:This graduate diploma in nursing prepares students with completed graduate studies in the discipline and experience in a specialty area to assume new roles as nurse practitioners. The program of study focuses on the acquisition of advanced level knowledge from the biomedical sciences and application of knowledge in the context of the nurse practitioner role. It includes course work and clinical experience that meets the requirements of the professional nursing and medical associations in Quebec, and are consistent with the requirements in other jurisdictions. Currently, the diploma is offered in neonatology. It will be available in other specialty areas as the practice roles are recognized in the provincial legislation.

    * Nurse-applicants to the Graduate Diploma in Nursing must have a completed Bachelor’s degree in nursing (minimum 66 university credits, including 12 credits in the biological sciences) and a Master’s degree in nursing comparable to that offered at the McGill School of Nursing with a minimum CGPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale required. * Prior to entry, applicants should have 2 years of experience in the specialty area over the previous 5 years.
