Description:This program will provide first period Welder apprenticeship students with the skills and theory necessary to pass the first Period Welder Apprenticeship theory and practical exams. Topics covered include safety, tools, weld faults, oxygen acetylene welding, shield metal arc welding, gas metal, flux core, submerged arc welding and trade (math) problems.

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

    Students must be registerd as a 1st period apprentice by Alberta Apprenticeship to qualify for this program. Those who are interested in becoming a Welding Apprentice must meet the following: Route 1: Applicants must have completed Grade 9; Route 2: Applicants must have received a passing mark on the Apprenticeship Level 2 Entrance exam. Applicants must also be hired as an apprentice with an approved employer.
