Topics covered include circuit fundamentals, electrical magnetic sources, lab fundamentals, Canadian Electrical Code part 1, blueprints, controls and switching circuits.

Admission Requirements


These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

    Students entering the program must first be registered as an apprentice with the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AAIT) office (Slave Lake, 849-7228) or visit the forms section at for an application. Those who want to become an apprentice must meet the following academic requirements: Route 1:applicants must have completed Grade 12; Grade 12 with Applied Math 20 (Math 23) or equivalent AND 10 credits in Science; Route 2:applicants must have received a passing mark on the Apprenticeship Level 5 entrance exam. Applicants must also be hired as an apprentice with an approved employer. * For either route, all applicants must also be hired as an Apprentice with an approved employer and registered with Alberta Apprenticeship.
