The Industrial Electrician requires about four to five years or 9,000 hours including 840 hours of post-secondary in-school training. Prior education and experience may shorten the time to complete all competencies.

One must pass an exam to receive a Certificate of Qualification with journeyperson status, which includes an Inter-Provincial Trade Certification (Red Seal). Prior education and experience may shorten the time to complete all competencies.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Apprenticeship applicants must be at least 16 years of age and possess a Grade 12 or equivalent education. College preparation Physics is recommended. Registration is through the local Workplace Support Services Branch Office of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
