Description:The Practical Nurse Diploma: Health Care Aide pathway is designed for learners who have completed a provincially recognized Health Care Aide Certificate plus 1,900 hours of work experience as a health care aide, and would like to pursue a Practical Nurse Diploma.

Upon successful completion of all program components and the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Exam (CPNRE), graduates will be eligible for licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*

  •  Grade12 English 
  •  Grade11 Mathematics 
  •  Grade12 Biology 

Successful completion of a Provincial Health Care Aide Certificate and completion of 1,900 hours of work experience as a Health Care Aide are also required

Practical Nurse learners have a current Police Information Check (PIC) and up-to-date immunizations. Students will be required to travel to various locations in order to complete their clinical and practicum placements.
