Description:Animals need care and lots of love. A Veterinary Technical Assistant does both and most importantly enjoys working with dogs and cats. In as little as four months you could receive a Veterinary Technical Assistant certificate and start a career making money doing something about which you are passionate. This is an entry level program that introduces students to the veterinary industry and animal care. The Veterinary Technical Assistant is a valued member of a veterinary practice team and works along-side veterinary professionals, Animal Health Technicians and shelter staff in the small animal industry.

Admission Requirements

  •  Grade11 Applied Mathematics  or  Grade11 Precalculus 
  •  Grade11 Biology  or  Grade11 Chemistry  or  Grade11 Science 

High School Diploma or its equivalent with 50% or better in English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2, 50% or better in Precalculus 20 or Applied Math 20, 50% or better standing in one of Biology 20, Chemistry 20, or Science 20.

  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 80] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550]
