Description:The Computer Programmer program provides hands-on experience in developing computer programs to satisfy business requirements. Graduates are well trained for a career as a programmer. Learning takes place in both classrooms and computer labs. Faculty bring a wealth of real world experiences to the classroom. Our courses are constantly evolving to meet the needs of local employers. This program is well-suited to people who are interested in computers, but not math, physics or electronics.

Admission Requirements

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

    Equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 credits), or mature student status. Graduates of a system based on the British model will need a General Certificate of Education with no less than ā€œDā€ or ā€œ4ā€ in five academic subjects. If you enter St. Lawrence College with credits from other post-secondary institutions you may be eligible for advanced credit. Under a Prior Learning Assessment Review (PLAR), students may also be granted course equivalency if they have worked extensively in a particular field.

    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60]
