DescriptionThe Personal Support Worker program was developed as part of the Ontario’s plan to reform long-term care and support services provided to keep people living at home and in long-term care facilities. The Personal Support Worker program consolidates and replaces Health Care Aide, Home Support Worker, and Personal Attendant Training.

Personal support workers provide support services in long-term care facilities and the community. The attitude and approach of workers and their abilities are critical to the well-being, comfort, safety, and health of the people they support. Personal support workers must develop a broad range of abilities, which emphasize the value of their role and reflect true sensitivity and respect for the individuality of each client. Students experience clinical placements in the health care agencies of Brantford, Hamilton, Halton, Niagara and surrounding regions. Students are responsible for their own travel and costs to clinical placements.
