Description | This program is designed to provide an individual with the skills needed to become employed in an entry level position in Information Technology. The graduate will be able to secure employment in an organization that requires knowledge in the areas of hardware, software, customer service and support, as well as networking and web design. The program will address fundamental skills in a number of areas including operating systems such as Windows and Linux, Health and Safety, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Electrical/Electronics, Soldering, Customer Service, Networking, Computer Maintenance, Job Search, Web Page Design, and Documentation. The graduate will be able to participate in technical conversations, install, configure, and operate standard office software applications and maintain the hardware components of office personal computers. They will be qualified to setup and maintain a standard networking system, create a full document system for tracking hardware/software and service calls, control and safety measures, and be capable of training staff. They would also learn how to design and maintain interactive web sites.
In some of the program courses, students follow the curriculum from the International Computer Driving Licence program. Those students who successfully pass the ICDL examinations will receive International Computer Driving Licence Certificates from ICDL. In addition, students will have opportunity to study both in lab form and independently some of the knowledge and skills needed for the CompTIA A+ Certification exams. Graduates will also receive a certificate after successfully finishing the Train-The-Trainer course. | | |
