Prerequisites NotesA minimum of Trades Math 11 and Computer 11 (or equivalent) is highly recommended for success in this program. Students should demonstrate a strong interest in the construction field. Students should have some experience in carpentry and computers. Students should be physically fit (mobility/lifting), with good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and balance, able to work at heights and in adverse weather conditions. Students should be comfortable working in the English language. Students will be required to fill in an interview questionaire about their skills and education prior to acceptance.

DescriptionThis full-time 13-week program is ideal for the person interested in working in the timber frame industry and/or wanting to build their own timber frame structure. Students are provided with practical hands-on experience in a large well-equipped Timber Frame shop supplemented with computer and classroom instruction. Students gain knowledge of techniques, history, and systems employed in traditional timber framing. Graduates of this course will be well positioned to work with skilled trades' people in the shop and on the job-site. The class will build 2-3 framed structures.

Successful students will receive an Associate Certificate Award from the College of the Rockies.
