  • Normally, an applicant to the Program would be expected to have completed a Master's Degree in one of the fields of specialization (Physical Chemistry, or, Molecular and Materials Science). Applicants who do not have a Master's degree will be considered on a case-by-case basis and, if admitted, may have additional course requirements.
  • Students in year-1 of a Master's degree program in one of the fields of specialization may apply for transfer into the PhD Program provided that they have successfully completed 2.0 full course equivalents towards the Master's degree and have had their research proposal approved by the Program Committee.

    DescriptionThe PhD in Chemistry and Materials Science is a research-intensive graduate program focused on the intellectual development and advanced training of scientists in two fields of specialization: Physical Chemistry and Molecular and Materials Science. Students in this program are expected to complete all requirements within a minimum of nine terms (3 years) to a maximum of twelve terms (4 years) of continuous full-time registration. Candidates must meet a minimum residency of three terms, two of which must be consecutive.
